The SLAF mobilised its assets to the assistance of the Disaster Management Authorities Yesterday and Today. One Bell 212 Helicopter was dispatched to the area for reconnaissance and rescue operations as and when required by the DMC while one Mi17 Helicopter was also placed on standby at SLAF Base Ratmalana. 56 Airmen and 2 Officers from SLAFDiyatalawa were deployed to the site to assist operations on ground.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday (30) instructed the Sri Lanka Navy to assist in stopping illegal fishermen entering into the Sri Lankan seas and also to curb using illegal equipment for the fishing.
