The power generating capacity of the power plant has been reduced by 900 Mw and the power supply has to be curtailed due to the high demand for power.

Accordingly, the power supply will be curtailed for 2 ½ hours in the morning and for one hour in the night from today to until 21. However, this power cut will not affect to the Colombo city limits, hospitals, and industrial zones.

The ministry issuing a statement announced that the time duration of the power cut could be reduced if the demand is reduced. Therefore, the ministry requested the customers to be considerate when consuming electricity.
